“I tried carrying the weight of the world but I only have two hands... Hope I get the chance to travel the world, but I don’t have any plans.”
-Avicii
Musical lyrics tell stories that remind us of our connection to one another, and often I look to music and lyrics to give me guidance when formulating a new sequence for Yoga Sculpt. Truthfully, each new month is myself finding music that resonates with the inner dialogue in my mind and the energy and message I want to bring out to the rest of the world. Essentially, each playlist and sequence is an open diary entry that I consciously share with the world.
I begin each month or episode with carefully selected music, then craft the movement to match. I am eager to reveal the process behind my music choices, which are designed to convey a specific message. Music and lyrics provide me with reassurance, as songwriters express thoughts and feelings that mirror my own. I am empowered by the realization that 'if someone else wrote these lyrics, I am not alone in resonating with them.' My goal is to guide people on a meaningful journey through both music and movement.
Alright, folks, it's time to ditch the training wheels and cannonball into one of my latest playlists! Let's see how the vibes, energy, and message shake out as we unleash it onto the wild, wild web and beyond.
March 2025 Yoga Sculpt Episode.32

528Hz Release Inner Conflict & Struggle- Miracle Tones
Starting this playlist off with intention of sharing the inner workings and thoughts of my own mind and how conflicted and afraid I feel about it.
Monarch- St. Finnikin This is the rumblings and stumbling of words and the beginning of grinding the wheels in the brain to begin moving and breathing with purpose. Hopeful that the message is clear.
THAT’S WHAT I WANT- Lil Nas X What is it that we all want and need in humanity? It feels harder to find these times, but we all want someone to tell us it will be ok and everything is alright.
I Only Smoke When I Drink- nimino Overthinking and worry are so easy to lean into, especially when it feels the whole world is doing the same thing.
What’s Up- DJ Dark, Mentol, Georgia Alexandra The ongoing question of What's going on!? Looking for hope and still searching until "...I cry sometimes while I'm lying in bed just to get it all out what's in my head and I, I am feeling a little peculiar" Does anyone else feel this incredible fear and sadness?
Feel Good (with Daya)- Gryffin, ILLENIUM, Daya "...I doubt myself, and I'm too proud to ask for help..." I keep trying to make this work, to keep hope alive knowing that I can't promise it will all work out but I am trying. The lyrics reminds me ..."when my heart beats, when my heart beats free... Take my hand in the middle of a crisis, pull me close, show me, baby where the light is. I was scared of a heart I couldn't silence but you make me, you make me feel good, I like it" How I begin to feel every class sharing this music and movement diary. This is where I hope to raise the energy collectively amidst the chaos of the world.
Wake Me Up- EDX Miami Sunset Remix At the peak of our first vinyasa flow, we also arrive at the deepest message or meaning of the practice- feeling our way through the darkness, "guided by our beating heats" and we "can't tell where the journey will end" but we know where to start.
Play Hard- David Guetta, Ne-Yo, Akon
Purple Hat (Dillon Francis Remix) -Sofi Tukker, Dillon Francis
Wash- Bon Iver "Climb is all we know" Coming off of the intensity and urgency of our mid class cardio we are catching out breath and reevaluating what we have been working towards.
Bird of Prey- Emily James This song invites us to land softly on the lioness back and asks "How'd you learn to be so fearless like that?" I appreciate anyone and everyone joining me on this journey that has me trying to find my way back to my heart.
Wake Me Up- Roses & Frey Revisiting this same song and message but in a quieter acoustic version that really allows the lyrics to be not only heard, but felt.
Hey Jude- Anne Charlotte "Take a sad song and make it better" We finish our balance flow with the understanding that we take a bad thought, moment, circumstance- and make it better.
Carry On- Norah Jones "And after all is said and done- who said it best?" At the end of our practice and journey we have to set it all aside and carry on. Something that feels increasingly challenging to do yet so necessary too.
River- Leon Bridges Savasana Hopefully the things we know to be true and the things we are unsure of still lead us to home .
I realize that most people attending a class have so much more to pay attention to in real time and probably have many other things that might be weighing on them personally in their heart. At the end of the practice, they hopefully feel their exertion and enjoy their rest! Whether you get all or some of the 'puzzle pieces' or 'subliminal messaging' sent through my music and sequence choices, I hope every practice with me resonates and reflects a part of you.
Namaste,
Katie
